Emily Sotelo, the Missing Mountain Hiker, Found Dead on NH Mountain

19-year-old hiker Emily Sotelo, who disappeared last week in New Hampshire, was found dead on the morning of Wednesday. She was from Westford, Massachusetts and the day, when her body was found, was her birthday.

The Search and Rescue Operation of Emily Sotelo, the Missing Mountain Hiker:

On Sunday, she was last spotted at Franconia Notch State Park campground for hiking. As per her schedule, she planned to hike three mountains in the area, Mount Lafayette, Haystack, and Flume. She went to Mount Lafayette but could not return till evening. After that, the searchers went in search of her but could not.

50 teams got engaged in the search and rescue operation. A helicopter was also used for the purpose. Finally, Fish and Game conservation officers located Emily Sotelo’s body on Mount Lafayette on Wednesday. New Hampshire National Guard took her off the mountain.

How Emily Sotelo Died?

According to the officers, it seems that she fell from the top of the mountain due to the strong winds and could not survive the chilling temperatures. She remained there for three days and that made the chances of her survival almost nil. Reportedly, she was not even properly attired for the cold weather. Sotelo was last seen wearing exercise pants and a brown jacket. 

No official statement has been released about the cause of her death.

Emily Sotelo’s parents and family members have been informed about her death.
