On Monday, 2022 Commonwealth Games came to an end. India finished the Birmingham CWG in the fourth position. Australia, England, and Canada stole the top three rankings with 67, 57, and 26 gold medals, respectively.
India’s Gold medal tally at Commonwealth Games 2022 finished at 22 medals. Indian athletes brought laurels to the country and overall won 61 medals. These include 16 silver medals and 23 bronze medals.
On day 11, India increased its Gold medal tally at Commonwealth Games and clinched Gold medals in badminton and table tennis events. Apart from winning Gold medals, India got silver in men’s hockey and bronze in table tennis on the conclusive day.
India opened its account in the 2022 Commonwealth Games on the second day of the games. And till the end of the games, Indian athletes won medals in twelve sporting events, like weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, wrestling, etc.
In the Lawn Bowls event, Indian women created history by clinching the highest reward, which was the gold medal for the first time.
The renowned badminton player PV Sindhu had won silver and bronze medals in the previous editions of the Commonwealth Games. This time she won the gold medal. In total, Indian badminton players won 6 medals this time.
Achanta Sharath Kamal became the most successful athlete from India to win four medals in table tennis- three gold and one silver.
India wrestlers were too good to be beaten. This is the second in a row that India has scored 100% in wrestling events and has clinched all the gold medals in the event.
It was a stellar show by Indian athletes that took India’s Gold Medal Tally at the 2022 Commonwealth Games to 22. India’s best performance in CWG was in 2010 when its athletes clinched 101 medals, including 38 gold medals.
