A tweet by the restaurant Chick-Fil-A is under fire in which the restaurant seemed to target the Black community.
On 9th September, a Twitter user Don with the handle @KANYEISMYDAD, tweeted about a menu item served by Chich-Fil-A. The tweet said that the item was not spicy enough.
As a response, Chick-Fil-A tweeted, “Your community will be the first to know if spicy items are added to the permanent menu, Don!”
This Chick-Fil-A tweet has received more than six thousand replies. The restaurant is facing the ire of netizens for targeting the Black community indirectly as the user Don belongs to it.
Almost everyone is questioning the words ‘Your Community.’ However, some tried to calm down things. One tweeted, “Chick Fil A said, “We know how you people like spicy…”
Some users said that this was some sort of automated response from the restaurant’s side as it is not the first time that Chick-Fil-A responded this way. A screenshot of such a tweet was also attached to the tweet by a user.
This was not the first time that Chick-Fil-A had become a part of the controversy. The food chain has always been accused of being a Trump supporter and anti-LGBT. However, the restaurant has rendered an apology for hurting the sentiments, although nothing was intentional.
Definitely, it was a poor choice of words, says a Chick-Fil-A spokesperson. He further added that nothing was intentional as the tweet was not intended to show disrespect towards any community, and they use the word ‘Community’ in a larger sense to refer to the areas where the restaurant chain operates.
