Carolina Plane Crash’s Missing Pilot: What we know so far?

Everyone is curious about the Carolina plane crash’s missing pilot. The co-pilot had a mysterious mid-air fall and could not survive. Since his death, questions are rising about the reasons for his fall. Did he jump to save himself as the airplane developed a landing gear problem, or did he fall suddenly?

To date, we only know the following facts about the tragic incident and plane crash’s missing pilot:

The crash landing:

On Friday, two licensed pilots were flying a ten-seater CASA CN-212 Aviocar airplane.
They tried to land the plane at a private airport in Raeford but could not. The right wheel of the airplane fell off. So they again started flying.

They called the air traffic control and told them about the issue. They requested the control system to help them in an emergency landing at the Raleigh Durham International (RDU) airport. They also said that there were two pilots on board.

The plane was allowed to do an emergency landing. It landed at the airport at about 2:50 p.m. But when it landed in tilted condition, only one pilot was there. The other pilot was missing.
No one knew where he was.

In the meantime, authorities received a complaint about a missing person Darshan Patel. They started searching for him. Their search ended at 7:00 p.m. in the backyard of a house in Fuquay-Varina. But the dead body they found was not of Darshan Patel. It was of the plane crash’s missing pilot, Charles Hew Crooks.

The missing pilot search operation:

The missing co-pilot and flight instructor was identified as 23-year-old Charles Hew Crooks. His identity was confirmed by the Police Department of Fuquay-Varina. He exited the plane or fell from it mid-air before the plane could land.

Crooks worked as a pilot for Rampart Aviation, and the other pilot was registered with the company Spore LTD which is handled by Rampart.

The survived co-pilot was given treatment at Duke Hospital and later released. His name has not been declared publicly yet.

Where was the missing pilot located?

The search operation took four hours. At last, the dead body of the plane crash’s missing pilot was found in the backyard of a house. The house is located near Sunset Lake and Hilltop Needmore roads in Fuquay-Varina. It is 20 miles away from the RDU airport.

The airplane flew over the Fuquay-Varina area at around 2:30 p.m. So, it can be said that Crooks fell from the plane into the courtyard around that time. The airplane was flying at a height of almost 3,850 feet.

The mysterious fall:

Why did Crooks exit the airplane mid-air? Well, nobody knows yet. Did he jump from the plane or suddenly fall from it? This question is still a mystery to be solved.

Before making the emergency landing, the two pilots had a conversation with the control staff, but the staff did not mention anything about the fall.

The surviving co-pilot has told the authorities that Crooks jumped out of the airplane.

Well, the investigations are on.

The plane involved in the incident:

The airplane was a small ten-seater CASA CN-212 Aviocar airplane. It is owned by SPORE LTD LLC. SPORE LTD LLC is managed by Rampart Aviation. This plane is manufactured in Spain and runs on two engines.

It is used in providing parachute training as it has a loading ramp on the backside. It can be opened when the plane is in the air.
